Frequently Asked Questions
What is your rate?
A 45-minute session in and around Lincoln Center, or The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, is $350, or $250 if you’re a student. I ask for a $100 deposit, and you’ll get it back if you cancel with 24 hours’ notice. Venmo is preferred, but so is PayPal, Zelle, or the Cash App if you have those.Where do we meet?
We will meet for your session right outside Lincoln Center Theater, on West 65th Street and Amsterdam.45 minutes doesn’t seem like a very long time. How many images will you take?
Typically, 45 minutes has been the sweet spot for most people before fatigue. With digital, I’ll shoot roughly 90 images, sometimes more. When shooting analog, I will use between 3-4 rolls of film. How many portraits will I receive?
After choosing your favorites, I’ll work with you on preparing the best three. Additional selections are $27 each. What’s the turnaround time?
Developing analog will take 2 weeks. Digital processing is faster, one week.Well, sh*t, it’s raining the day we do this. Can we reschedule?
Of course. Your deposit covers that rain check.I was hoping to have my portrait taken in a studio with natural light. Is that possible and at what cost?
Yes. I rent a sunny penthouse studio in Chelsea for these. The additional cost is just $200 to cover the rental. Bring a friend (or two) for their portrait and we can waive that.Do you retouch skin? What if there’s mustard on my shirt?
Yes. I can fix blemishes and stains. If we can schedule it, I can also bring on a makeup artist at the cost of her rate. What’s the final image resolution?
For digital, they are 4480 × 6720, at 300dpi, in sRGB colorspace. For analog, we can scan Portra at 2500dpi. If you need TIFFs, just let me know. How long have you been doing this? Are you published?
I have been taking portraits for 15 years and my work has been featured in Vice, FvF, Kajal, Elle, Natura, R29, and others. This current body of portraiture is for a personal portfolio that I intend to show and publish at a later date.
